March 02, 2019 | Women's Tennis
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team improved to 8-2 on the season after defeating Oakland University Saturday afternoon by a score of 6-1 at the Muncie YMCA.
Ball State continues to find success this spring in doubles action, as the Cardinals took all three matches from Grizzlies in fairly quick fashion. Ball State has lost only one doubles point all season.
First off the court, was the No. 2 duo of Rebecca Herrington and Audrey Berger. The twosome didn't give up a game to Oakland's Alexandra Whall and Amanda Nilsson, winning the match, 6-0. Shortly after, Isabelle Dohanics and Peyton Gollhofer clinched the point with their 6-2 victory at the No. 3 doubles position.
With the Cardinals up 1-0, Gollhofer quickly put Ball State up 2-0 over Oakland with her 6-2, 6-2 defeat over Dasha Artamonova at the No. 3 position. With the win, Gollhofer remains undefeated in dual action this spring. Lilya Hadab gave Ball State its third point after beating Amanda Nilsson, 6-2, 6-4 on court six.
Berger, Herrington and Dohanics were each up a set over their respective opponents, and Herrington claimed match point with a 7-5, 6-4 decision over Samantha Galloway.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues its spring action when it plays in California against Azusa Pacific University (Thursday) at 2:30 p.m. and at University of California Riverside (Friday) at 11 a.m.
