Men's Tennis Rallies Back Against Wright State In Singles For Win

DAYTON, Ohio - The Ball State men's tennis team rallied back in singles play this afternoon defeating Wright State on the road by a score of 4-3. With the win, the Cardinals improved their overall record to 2-3 on the season while the Raiders drop to 3-4.
Wright State took the early 1-0 edge over Ball State after taking the doubles point from the Cardinals. The Raiders earned victories on courts two and three for the point. The match on the top court went unfinished but the Cardinals' twin brother duo of Nemanja and Marko Guzina had the 5-3 lead over Wright State's Fernando Nardelli and Cellupica-Towers.
In singles action, Thibault De Negri earned the first point of the day for the Cardinals after defeating D. Cellupica-Towers at position four, 6-2, 6-0. Chris Adams took down Javier Alvarez on court five and Danilo Kovacevic also won in straight sets to give Ball State the 3-1 advantage over the Raiders. Ball State only needed one more point to take the match from Wright State.
With three courts remaining, Bryce Bonin had positioned himself in good shape taking set one from Theo Bourghelle by score of 6-4 at the No. 6 spot. Bonin then clinched the win for the Cardinals after winning the second set 6-4 as well.
The Ball State men's tennis team will face its third Big Ten opponent Sunday when it travels to Northwestern. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
