Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Action At Purdue Invite

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team wrapped up this weekend's fall action at the Purdue Invitational Saturday afternoon.
True freshman Eli Herran shined in Flight D singles Friday advancing to the semifinal round after defeating Army's David Gorshein and Alejandro Martinez from Cardinal Stritch in straight sets. On Saturday, It was a tight match for Herran in the semi's but he unfortunately lost to Valparaiso's Philipp Leithold in a three set thriller, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Junior Thibault de Negri, freshmen Orlando Vince and Parrish Simmons along with teammate junior Khamasi Muhiga all registered wins in their respective first matches on Friday.
In consolation singles action, sophomore Danilo Kovacevic and junior Bryce Bonin took home the title matches in their respective left side of the bracket. Kovacevic registered a straight set win over Cardinal Stritch's Nicola Wehrle (6-4, 6-2) in his finale and Bonin took down Xavier's Shashan Reddy, 6-4, 6-4.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues fall action when competes at the Louisville Invitational, Oct. 11-13.
