Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Play At Louisville Invite Sunday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Ball State men's tennis team competed in its third fall tournament this past weekend at the Louisville Invitational.
The three-day event consisted of 16 teams. Joining the Cardinals were Austin Peay, Bellarmine Belmont, Butler, Chattanooga, Chicago State, East Tennessee State, Eastern Illinois, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Lipscomb, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, Toledo, Wright State and Youngstown State.
Freshman Abe Wojtalik registered three wins in the flight 'F' singles bracket advancing him to the championship match against Toledo's Cole Shoults. Wojtalik dropped the title match to Shoults, 6-0, 2-6, 7-10.
Freshman Eli Herran also picked up a win in his main draw of flight 'D' singles against Butler's Ryan Roegner, 6-4, 5-7, 12-10.
On the left side of bracket play, Khamasi Muhiga advanced to the flight 'G' consolation championship match. Muhiga moved forward by taking down Theo Bourghelle of Wright State and Eastern Illinois' Pau Riera.
In the main draw of doubles action, the twosome of Muhiga and Danilo Kovacevic earned a 6-4 victory over Louisville's doubles tandem of Clement Filho and Juan Paredes in their respective flight. Also, the Ball State duo of Herran and Parrish Simmons beat Kennesaw's Seru Tezuka and Harrison Wood in flight 'e' doubles.
Wojyalik paired up with Bryce Bonin in flight 'f' doubles, advancing to the consolation championship match after defeating Chattanooga's Kaisei Kuroki and Quinten Nevenhoven, 6-1.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues fall play at the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Ohio Valley Regionals, Oct. 24-Oct. 27 on the campus of Vanderbilt.
