Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Fall Play At West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, Va. – The Ball State women's tennis team wrapped up its fall season Sunday afternoon at West Virginia. The Cardinals participated in the Martha Thorn Invite which began on Friday.
The Cardinals had a successful tournament, posting singles wins over West Virginia (4-2), Navy (4-1) and Delaware (4-1). BSU also registered doubles victories over Navy and Delaware.
Ball State finished the tournament on a high note after defeating Delaware 4-1 in singles action Sunday. Rebecca Herrington dropped her first set to Eliza Askarova 4-6 but fought back taking the second set by a score of 6-4. Herrington came out on top after winning the tiebreaker over Askarova, 10-6.
Amy Kaplan also registered a tiebreaking win over Caragh Courtney, 6-1, 2-6, 10-6. Victoria Sec along with teammate Emma Peeler closed out the day with straight set victories against their respective opponents.
Sec, Peeler and Herrington all went undefeated this past weekend in singles play after posting a 3-0 overall mark.
The Ball State women's tennis team will open its spring season on January 17 at IUPUI.
