Cardinals’ Win Streak Snapped in 1-0 Loss at Toledo
October 18, 2019 | Soccer
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Ball State University soccer team entered the week on a five-game winning streak but will be looking to start a new one in its next match after dropping a 1-0 decision at Toledo Friday night.
Ball State fell to 11-4-0 for the year with the loss and 5-2-0 in Mid-American Conference play.
"It's never fun to lose, especially the way we did," said head coach Josh Rife. "Credit to them in earning the goal, but it's still disappointing. We played better as the game went on, but it just wasn't enough today. I continue to be proud of this group and how they never quit. We need to continue to believe and move on to the next game."
The Cardinals registered eight shots on the night but could only put two of them on goal. BSU also earned three corner kicks, and goalkeeper Tristin Stuteville made three saves on the night.
The lone goal of the match occurred in the 58th minute when Toledo's Anita Mancini found the back of the net. Her goal was one of nine shots by the Rockets, and one of four they put on goal.
Ball state will look to bounce back Sunday when it visits current MAC leader Bowling Green. The Falcons are undefeated in conference play. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. ET with a live stream available via BGSU's YouTube channel.
