Women’s Golf Set to Host Cardinal Classic Starting Monday

Event features 36 holes Monday, 18 holes Tuesday at The Players Club
The Ball State women's golf team is home this week for its annual tournament, the Cardinal Classic at The Players Club in Yorktown.
The tournament field features 16 teams, including five from the Mid-American Conference. Reigning NCAA Division II national champion UIndy returns to defend its Cardinal Classic title from a year ago.

Monday, Sept. 17 (36 holes) -- 8:30 a.m. shotgun start
Tuesday, Sept. 18 (18 holes) -- 9 a.m. shotgun start

Ball State, Bowling Green, Bradley, Central Michigan, Cleveland State, Dayton, Evansville, Illinois State, Indiana State, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Southern Illinois, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UIndy, Western Illinois, Western Michigan. Indiana will have individuals competing.

About the Cardinals
Manon Tounalom finished runner-up last week at Illinois State's Redbird Invitational for the best result of her career. The junior from France set a new career-best 54-hole score at 1-over par 217 for the event. She led the Cardinals to a third-place finish as a team.
Three golfers made their collegiate debuts last week for Ball State's youthful squad, led by Morgan Lewis. The Fishers, Indiana, native tied for 34th after three rounds in the 70s.
At the Cardinal Classic
Ball State tied for ninth at last year's Cardinal Classic, led by the graduated Morgan Nadaline in a tie for 12th. Tounalom tied for 29th.
UIndy won the event with a 1-under par total of 863. Bradley finished 13 shots back in second place, while Akron was third.
This year marks the 17th edition of the Cardinal Classic. Ball State has won the tournament three times, most recently in 2012.
