July 19, 2018 | Football
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Justin Hall's sensational first year on the Ball State football team earned him a spot on the initial 2018 Biletnikoff Award Watch List. The Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation, Inc., the creator and sponsor of the award, released the preseason watch list Thursday.
The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the most outstanding NCAA Football Subdivision (FBS) receiver across the nation. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award.
Hall, a native of Douglasville, Georgia, led all freshmen in the nation in receptions (78) last year and ranked fourth among all freshmen in receiving yards (801). He led the Cardinals in receptions in 11 straight games in 2017 and posted team season highs in receptions (13) and receiving yards (121) on Sept. 30 at Western Michigan. Hall went on to earn ESPN.com Freshman All-America honors and was also named second team All-Mid-American Conference.
Also representing the MAC on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List were Miami's James Gardner, Buffalo's Anthony Johnson, Toledo's Diontae Johnson, Bowling Green's Scott Miller, Akron's Kwadarrius Smith and Toledo's Cody Thompson.
The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., will announce the 10 Biletnikoff Award semifinalists on Nov. 12, following the vote by the distinguished members of the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee. Likewise, the three finalists will be declared following another vote on Nov. 20.
The 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on Dec. 6, on The Home Depot College Football Awards presented by Gildan to be broadcast on ESPN at 7 p.m. College and pro football hall of famer Fred Biletnikoff will announce the 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner on the show.
