MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's basketball team welcomes Thelma Dis Agustsdottir, a forward from Reykanesbaer, Iceland to join the Cardinals during the 2018-19 season as announced by head coach Brady Sallee Friday.
Agustsdottir joins previously signees; guard Anna Clephane (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott), forward Blake Smith (Carmel, Ind./Carmel), guard Gabriella Smith (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) and guard Abi Haynes (Vincennes, Ind./Lincoln).
"I'm thrilled to announce the addition of Thelma to our team," said Sallee. "She clearly is an accomplished player with a ton of international experience, but she also brings a work ethic and scoring ability that has us extremely excited! She fits our system perfectly and we look forward to getting her here in the fall after what I hope is a successful summer for the U20 Iceland National Team."
Agustdottir, a 6-0 forward who played for Keflavik in the Icelandic Dominos League, averaged 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists this past season. Keflavik made it to the playoffs where Agustdottir averaged 20 points per contest, helping her team advance to the semifinals. For her efforts, Agustdottir was named to the Dominos League All-Star Team and also received the league's Sportsmanship Award. She also helped her team win the Icelandic Cup Championship.
In 2017, Agustdottir was tabbed the Most Valuable Player for her Keflavik team in the Dominos League and was a member of the All-Star team. She helped Keflavik win the Iceland Club Championship and was awarded the 2017 Sportswoman of the Year in Keflavik and Reykanesbaer.
In July of 2017, Agustdottir played for the FIBA U20 Iceland National team where she averaged nine points per game, eight rebounds and three assists.
Before arriving on Ball State's campus, Agustdottir will be competing with the FIBA U20 Iceland National team this summer.
