MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State head women's basketball coach Brady Sallee announced Tuesday the addition of guard Abi Haynes (Vincennes, Ind./Lincoln) to the 2018 recruiting class.
Haynes joins previous signees; guard Anna Clephane (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott), forward Blake Smith (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and guard Gabriella Smith (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook).
"We are excited to add Abi to our program," said Sallee. "Her length, athleticism and toughness added with her versatile skill set is exactly what we were after and felt like we needed. Abi wanted to wear the Ball State jersey, and I know she will do so with pride. We look forward to Abi getting started!"
Haynes, a 5-8 guard from Vincennes Lincoln High School, earned Big Eight All-Conference honors as a senior. She was named to the Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association (HBCA) All-District Team and was an HBCA Regional All-Star. Haynes helped the Alices win their third consecutive sectional championship last year and was named a Hoosier Basketball Magazine Southern Indiana All-Star.
As a junior, Haynes led the state in assists (7.6 apg) and dished out a career best 16 assists in a single game twice. She earned Big Eight All-Conference accolades, was a top 100 underclassmen selection for the state of Indiana and was named to the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association (ICGSA) All-State First Team. Haynes also received Sun Commercial and Evansville Courier & Press Area Player of the Year honors.
