Senior forward Moriah Monaco was named Second Team All-MAC, while junior guard Carmen Grande was selected Third Team All-MAC and freshman forward Oshlynn Brown was named to the All-MAC Freshman Team. Additionally, Grande earned MAC All-Defensive Team honors while Brown was tabbed the MAC's Sixth Player of the Year.
This marks the seventh time Ball State has placed at least three players on the All-MAC squads in the same season, with the other being 2016-17, 2014-15, 2008-09, 2007-08 and 1982-83. Monaco received Second Team All-MAC honors for the second time in her career. She has played in 124 games for Ball State and has started in 93 of them. She became the third player last season and the 27th in program history to reach 1,000 points for her career against Central Michigan. She has recorded nine double-digit rebounding games including a career best performance pulling down 16 boards at Vanderbilt on Nov. 20, 2017. The Ohio native has earned four double-doubles this season. She scored a season high 22 points against Eastern Michigan on Feb. 7 in Worthen Arena. Brown leads the team in rebounding with 7.5 rebounds per contest. She has also reached double figures in scoring for the Cardinals' eight times this year. Brown is the second-straight Cardinal to receive the MAC's Sixth Player of the Year as senior forward Destiny Washington earned the honor last season.
The No. 3 seeded Ball State women's basketball team earned an automatic bye as the third seed, advancing straight to the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament Wednesday at approximately 7:30 p.m. against the No. 6 seed Western Michigan at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
