DEKALB, Ill. - The Ball State men's tennis team (12-7, 2-2 MAC) suffered a 4-3 heartbreaking loss to Northern Illinois (13-6, 3-1 MAc) Saturday afternoon in Mid-American Conference action.
The Cardinals took the doubles point for the second time this season against the Huskies. Nemanja Guzina and Collin Rigney were the first twosome off the court for Ball State. The No. 1 doubles tandem took down Georg Lundkvist and Bor Schweiger Muzar by a decision of 6-4. After that, Northern Illinois evened doubles action with a 6-4 defeat at the No. 2 doubles position. But the Cardinals prevailed with the No. 3 duo of Chris Adams and Tom Carney, with their close 7-6 win over Tom Hjertonsson and Louis-Philippe Hamel.
In singles action, Northern Illinois quickly picked up its first point after Kristopher Ortega did not give up a game to Nemanja Guzina on the top court, 6-0, 6-0. Bryce Bonin along with teammate Marko Guzina pushed the Cardinals lead to 3-1 after earning victories on courts six and two against their respective opponents.
