Gymnastics Improves Four Points in Loss to Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich.,-- The Ball State gymnastics team improved its previous score by four points in 196.075-195.400 loss at Western Michigan Saturday evening.
"I'm happy with the way the team competed today," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "They stepped out onto the competition floor and focused on their gymnastics."
The Cardinals started on bars where Jordyn Penny swung into fourth place with a 9.800.
On vault Bri Slonim took second place with a score of 9.825.
Tia Kiaku matched her career high of a 9.900 on floor. Kiaku took second place overall. Kaitlyn Menzione returned to the lineup and claimed third place with a 9.800.
On beam Baylee Bell and Jordyn Penny tied in second place both scoring 9.825. Vicky Garcia landed in fifth place with a score of 9.800.
"I'm really proud of Tia's performance today," Saleem stated. "She is so fun to watch during her floor routine. Our beam squad also did well, we had some incredible routines. Overall the team competed strong and performed well."
The Cardinals will continue on the road to Central Michigan Thursday, Mar. 15 at 7 p.m. EST before returning to Central Michigan for the Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday, Mar. 24.
