Grande Named CoSIDA Academic First Team All-District

MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State women's basketball junior guard Carmen Grande was voted to the 2017-18 CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, the organization announced Thursday.
Grande is the first Cardinal to be recognized as a CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team selection since Danielle Gratton in 2009. The junior from Madrid, Spain, boasts a 3.98 cumulative GPA majoring in mathematical science.
Grande ranks second nationally in assists per game (9.6 apg) and second in total assists (246). She currently has 648 career assists and became the program's all-time leader at Western Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 10. She is currently 10th on the Mid-American Conference all-time assists list.
Grande ranks third on the team in scoring 11.6 points per game. Recently, she scored a career-high 25 points in a win against Eastern Michigan on Feb. 7 and was featured on the Top 10 Plays on ESPN's SportsCenter. Grande has 13 career double-doubles and 23 games with double-figure assists.
Ball State will close out its home schedule Saturday at 2 p.m. against Toledo at Worthen Arena. The Cardinals are currently 22-4 overall and 11-4 in league action.
