Men's Tennis Extends Win Streak To Seven With Win Over Lipscomb

MUNCIE, Ind.- The Ball State men's tennis team (7-1) extended its win streak to seven with its 4-3 win over Lipscomb (2-5) Saturday afternoon in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
The Cardinals took the early 1-0 edge over Lipscomb after winning the doubles point. Marko Guzina and Conner Andersen registered a 6-3 win over Jorge Ortegon and Daniel Cardena on court two before Tom Carney and Chris Adams clinched the point with their 6-4 victory over Francesco Tacconi and Pedro Uribe at the No. 3 position.
Lipscomb came back in singles action, taking the first match from Ball State on the top court in straight sets. Ortegon then gave the Bison's the lead after his 6-3, 7-5 take down against the Cardinals Thibault de Negri at the No. 3 slot. Ball State tallied the next point with Bryce Bonin's win over Tacconi at six singles. Victor Chaw then put the Bison's ahead 3-2 with his victory against Marko Guzina on court two.
The match would then come down to courts four and five. True to form, Andersen managed to come from behind and defeat Cardenas, 6-0, 6-7, 6-3 at the No. 4 slot. Adams then claimed the fourth point and the victory for Ball State after his three set thriller against the Bison's Uribe at five singles.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues non-conference action on Saturday Feb. 24 when it plays Michigan State at 10:00 a.m. in East Lansing and then Detroit Mercy at 2 p.m.
