
BSU sets Several Career Bests on Day One of Miami Invite

OXFORD, Ohio – The opening day of the Miami Invitational was full of career-best times for the Ball State University swimming and diving team, highlighted by the seventh-best time in the women's 200 Free Relay in school history.
Anne Vormohr, Alex Bader, Makenna Bottorff and Peighton Gilbert posted a time of 1:34.44 in the 200 Free Relay to secure that Ball State top time. The team's time was good for fourth place in the event. Many Cardinals went on to have solid individual days as well.
Overall, Ball State sits in fifth place out of six teams with a total team score of 238. The women are in fourth of five teams with 130 points and the men are in the same position with 108 points.
Katie Walker followed the relay team's solid relay performance with a lifetime best of 5:06.52 in the 500 Free which placed her in 16th for the event. She shaved off over a second from her preliminary time which clocked in at 5:07.74. Elizabeth Graham was not far behind in the same event at 19th with a time of 5:07.45 while Audrey Mayer recorded a personal record by clocking in at 5:09.41.
On the men's side of the 500 Free, Davis Meyn put together a lifetime best of 4:38.95 while coming in seventh place. Jack Luddy and Ryan Jackowiak followed Meyn with fourth and sixth place finished in their respective heats. Bennet Witteveen completed a personal record in the preliminary round that pushed him into the final where he finished eighth in his heat with a time of 4:49.03.
Other career bests for the Cardinals on the day included Drew Weeks in the 50 Free with a time of 21.60 and Bottorff in the same event with a 24.10.
