Men's Tennis Competes At MAC Indoors

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Ball State men's tennis team is competing at the MAC Invite this weekend, which is being hosted by Western Michigan University.

The Cardinals opened play Friday with the doubles competition. Ball State registered wins in all three flights. The Cardinals took six total matches from Northern Illinois and Toledo in flights two and three. The doubles tandem of Thibault de Negri and Danilo Kovacevic took down Northern Illinois (8-4) and then Toledo (8-6). Chris Adams alongside partner Conner Andersen earned an 8-6 victory over the Huskies and then beat Toledo by a score of 8-4. In flight three, Tom Carney and Bryce Bonin earned 8-3 decisions over NIU and the Rockets.

In singles action Saturday, Nemanja Guzina advanced to the championship match after posting wins over Jack Randall of Western Michigan (6-3, 6-4). He then moved onto the semifinals with his three set thriller versus the Huskies David Patta (2-6, 6-1, 6-2). Nemanja Guzina will take on the Huskies Eric Marbach in the title match Sunday.

In Flight 7 singles, Alec Robillard went 2-0 in his bracket and will play in the championships Sunday against Northern Illinois' Eric Schuette.

The Ball State men's tennis team will close out its fall play Sunday at the MAC Invite. After that, the Cardinals will open spring play at Big Ten foe Indiana on Jan. 13 in Bloomington beginning at Noon.
