Kovacevic Crowned Champion Of Flight B Singles At Purdue Invite

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - True freshman Danilo Kovacevic was crowned champion of Flight B singles Sunday morning in the last day of competition for the Cardinals at the Purdue Fall Invitational.
Kovacevic opened fall action in his collegiate debut Friday by defeating host Purdue's Julian Saborio (6-3, 7-6 (4). He then took down Marquette's Brandon Shanklin by a score of 6-4, 6-4 to advance to Saturday's semifinal round. Kovacevic then earned a straight set victory over Butler's Aviv Ben Shabat that allowed him to reach the championship match Sunday morning.
This morning, Kovacevic took on the Boilermakers Maksymilian Raupuk in a three set thriller, he won the first set 6-3 but then dropped the second set 6-4. He then won the third frame 10-3 to take the match from Raupuk.
In doubles action, Conner Andersen and Chris Adams took on Cleveland State's Raul Teichmann and Matthew Terry but lost the doubles Flight C title match by a score of 6-3.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues fall play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regional in Knoxville, Tennessee from Oct. 11 to Oct. 15.
