Men’s Tennis Advances Seven In Main Singles Draw At UofL Invite

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Ball State men's tennis team had a successful first day at the Louisville Fall Invitational Friday, advancing seven Cardinals in the main draw and four teams in the doubles competition.
In singles A, Nemanja Guzina took down Carlos Vicente of Tennessee Tech (6-4, 6-4) in his first round but then dropped his second competition to host Louisville's Fabien Sallee (6-2, 6-2). Nemanja's twin brother Marko lost his first match but advanced in the consolation bracket where he will play Wenc Albin of Tennessee Tech tomorrow.
Both Chris Adams and Danilo Kovacevic moved up in the main singles B flight and will play each other in the semifinals on Saturday. Conner Andersen already notched his spot in the second to final round of C singles after he defeated Cameron Petersen 7-6, 6-4. He now faces David Faulkner of Butler on Saturday. Bryce Bonin also earned victories in the C bracket after beating Mike Lee of Xavier, 6-3, 6-3.
Other Cardinals who moved on in their respective singles flights were Tom Carney, Khamasi Muhiga and Alec Robillard.
Doubles play wasn't any different for the Cardinals today, as Kovacevic paired up alongside teammate Thibault de Negri winning by an 8-5 decision against Xavier. The twin duo of Marko and Nemanja Guzina captured an 8-1 win in the doubles A main draw as well.
Ball State finished the day with three more doubles victories, which came from the twosome of Adams and Andersen, Carney and Bonin along with Muhiga and Robillard.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues play at Louisville Saturday. The doubles competition will begin at 10 a.m. ET.
