Game 20

Tuesday, Jan. 23 (7 p.m.)
Kent, Ohio (M.A.C. Center)

 About the Cardinals                         Â
• Ball State visits Kent State for the first of two meetings between the teams over the next three weeks. The Cardinals and Golden Flashes will also meet Friday, Feb. 9 at 9 p.m. in Muncie. The game was recently moved to that time slot as part of the MAC television package on ESPNU.
Â
• Junior center Trey Moses scored a season-high 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting in Saturday's loss at Miami. Moses hit his first nine shots from the floor. His 13 straight makes dating back to last Tuesday's win over Central Michigan matched the school record set by Clement Murrell in 1979.
Â
• Moses leads the Cardinals in scoring (12.5 ppg) and rebounding (9.8 rpg) during conference play. His MAC rebounding average ranks third in the league, and he is averaging a double-double over the past nine games.
Â
• Ball State has held five of its six conference opponents to less than 40 percent shooting (Buffalo is the only exception). The Cardinals rank first in the MAC in field goal percentage defense during league play (.396). BSU is holding MAC opponents to 37.8 percent (93 for 246) from inside the arc.
Â
• The Cardinals check in at No. 167 in the Ken Pomeroy ratings as the third-highest team from the MAC (Buffalo is No. 71, Toledo is No. 100).
Â
• Ball State has yet to reach its potential shooting the 3 this year. The Cardinals returned all but one of their top shooters from a team that set the school record with 319 treys last year and shot 37.9 percent from the arc as a team. So far this season, BSU is making just 33.5 percent from 3-point range. That number has dipped to 31.3 percent in conference play.
Â

• The Golden Flashes posted a one-point victory over Ohio and a buzzer-beating, two-point win over Western Michigan in their two most recent home games.
• They held a lead in the final five minutes Saturday at MAC West Division leader Toledo before the Rockets pulled out a 72-65 win.
• Junior guard Jaylin Walker leads Kent State with 16.8 points per game, while senior guard Kevin Zabo has been the team's top scorer in league play at 18.7 per game. Junior center Adonis De La Rosa also averages double figures.
