MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University men's tennis team begins its fall schedule Friday, Sept. 15 in West Lafayette, Ind. at the Purdue Fall Invitational. The 3-Day tournament will feature 14 teams and will begin at 8 a.m. each day.
Joining the Cardinals and host Boilermakers are Bucknell, Butler, Cardinal Stitch University, Chicago State, Cleveland State, Illinois State, IUPUI, Marquette, Olivet, South Dakota State, Washington University in St. Louis and University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
The tournament sites will be held at the Schwartz Tennis Center which has 12 outdoor courts and six indoor courts. The Purdue Rec Sports Center Tennis Courts will also be utilized during Friday and Saturday's competition.
The seedings for this weekend's competition will be the ITA recommended NCAA singles format and doubles format. The tournament will use ITA rankings followed by UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) for seeding and draw assignments. Players with less than 70 percent reliability on their UTR will be subtracted one level on the acceptance list. In addition, to avoid inner team matches, a maximum of two players from the same team were allowed in the A, B and C draws.
After the completion of the Purdue Fall Invite, the Ball State men's tennis team will participate in four more invitationals; at Louisville Invitational in Louisville, Ky. (Oct. 13-15), at ITA Regionals in Knoxville, Tenn. (Oct. 19-Oct. 22), at Boilermaker Invitational (Nov. 3-5) before concluding fall play at the Mid-American Conference Indoor in Kalamazoo, Mich. (Nov. 10-12).
