Tounalom’s Top-10 Highlights Opening Event for Women’s Golf

Cardinals finish 10th as a team at Redbird Invitational
NORMAL, Ill. -- Manon Tounalom climbed into the top 10 to lead the Ball State women's golf team Monday as the Cardinals concluded their season-opening event at Illinois State's Redbird Invitational.
Tounalom, a sophomore from France, fired the team's lowest score of the day with a 76 (+4). Morgan Nadaline was right behind her with a 77. Tounalom, who had a pair of top-10 results as a freshman, moved up two spots into a tie for 10th place on the final leaderboard with a 54-hole total of 229 (+13).
Ball State finished the tournament 10th in the field of 12 teams with a total of 948 (+84) over three rounds at Weibring Golf Club.
Northern Illinois came from seven shots back entering Monday's final round to win the tournament by one shot over Bradley, which led after 36 holes. Bradley featured the individual medalist in Ally Scaccia who won by five shots at 1 under par.
Freshman Emily Knouff, competing this week as an individual, was Ball State's second-highest finisher in a tie for 30th. Fellow freshmen Liz Kim (T39) and Holly Anderson (T45) also saw action for the first time, while Sydney Anderson (T45) and Nadaline (T49) rounded out the lineup.
Ball State will return home to host the Cardinal Classic next week. The action runs Monday and Tuesday at The Players Club in Yorktown.
