May 31, 2017 | Women's Swimming and Diving
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State women's swimming and diving team released its 2017-18 schedule, which is highlighted by six home meets. The 2017-18 season will begin Saturday, Oct. 7 with the annual Red/White Instrasquad meet at Lewellen Aquatic Center.
"My staff and I are excited about the schedule for the 2017-18 season," said head coach Kristy Patterson. "There are a number of returning teams and some new DI opponents, which will be great competition. It will give us some new challenges that will prepare us for MAC Championships and post season competition. We will be competing in our home pool more often this season, which will be a welcomed change from last year."
The Cardinals will kick off the regular season when they travel to West Lafayette, Ind. for the Indiana Intercollegiate meet Saturday, Oct. 28. Ball State will return to Lewellen Aquatic Center Saturday, Oct. 28 against Mid-American Conference foe Ohio.
On Saturday, Nov. 4, Ball State will take a trip to Toledo, Ohio to compete against Toledo and Oakland. The Cardinals will return Muncie for a three meet home streak as they take on Illinois State (Nov. 10), Tiffin (Nov. 11) and Grand Valley State (Nov. 18).
The Cardinals will round out first semester competition as they travel to compete in the annual Miami Invitational Nov. 30-Dec.2. After a month break from competition, Ball State will return in action on Jan. 5 in Indianapolis in meet against IUPUI, Xavier and University of Indianapolis. The women's swimming and diving team will then try to take down MAC rival Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti, Mich. on Jan. 19. The Cardinals will return for two meets against Indiana State (Jan. 20) and Buffalo (Jan. 27). The seniors will be honored prior to the Buffalo meet.
Ball State will round out the regular season in South Bend, Ind. The squad will take on Notre Dame and Wisconsin-Green Bay in a Co-Ed meet.
The MAC Championships will be held in Athens, Ohio Feb. 21-24. The NCAA Diving Zones will take place Mar. 8-10 in Columbus, Ohio. Columbus will also be home to the 2018 NCAA Championships Mar. 14-17.
