Softball Places Four on Academic All-MAC Squad

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - The Ball State softball team placed four student-athletes on the 2017 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team as announced by the league office.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for their particular sport. First year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residency are not eligible.
Ball State seniors Amanda Arnett and Rachel Houck earn the honors for the third time in their careers, as both also picked up the award in 2015 and 2016.
Junior Carolyn Wilmes was named to the Academic All-MAC squad for the second straight season, while sophomore Aeshia Miles earns the honor for the first time in her career.
Ball State's four honorees are now eligible for the MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete award which is voted on by the faculty athletic representatives from each MAC institution. The award is presented to student-athletes from the Academic All-MAC Team who have excelled in athletics and academics.
