All-Access: A Transfer's "Road Trip"
April 05, 2017 | Women's Basketball
Women's basketball's Jasmin Samz shows us what its like for a transfer when the team goes on the road
Muncie, Ind. -- Part of being a transfer in college basketball is the year players have to sit out from competition. But that doesn't only mean sitting out games, it also means sitting out road trips. When the team travels, you don't. Well, this past basketball season Ball State All-Access wanted to find out what it's like to be a transfer student when the team is on the road and you get left behind.
Jasmin Samz came to the Cardinals women's basketball team after her freshman season at St. Louis University. One of the team's more vocal players, Samz was a fixture in street clothes at the end of the bench while she waited out her transfer year. When the team went on the road, however, we found out that Samz is just as vocal...in front of the TV instead of on the sidelines. When Ball State took it's last road trip of the season earlier last month, All-Access sat down with Samz to watch the Cards at Eastern Michigan. It was an insight into the women's basketball team, a chance to introduce Cardinals fans to Samz, and to see a game through a player's own eyes.
Now college basketball games last somewhere in the realm of two hours. We boiled all of that down to six minutes in this inside look from Ball State All-Access.
The Cardinals finished the year earlier this month with their fifth consecutive trip to the postseason. Ball State, the second overall seed in the Mid-American Conference, qualified for the WNIT after capturing back-to-back 20-win seasons.
For more information on the Cards fans can follow the team on social media @BallStateWBB, @BSUCoachBrady and @BallStateSports.
