Men's Tennis Loses At Buffalo In MAC Play Friday

BUFFALO, NY - The Ball State University men's tennis team lost 6-1 on the road at Buffalo Friday afternoon in Mid-American Conference action. The Cardinals fall to 13-10 overall and now own a 2-4 league ledger heading into their last MAC regular season match of the year on Sunday at Binghamton. That match is set for an 11 a.m. first serve.

Despite the loss today, the Cardinals were able to take away some positives from the match. It was a close competition between the two schools' in doubles action as Buffalo took the first match on the top court after Hao Shen Koay alongside Filip Grbic defeated Lucas Andersen and Andrew Stutz by a score of 6-0. After that, Ball State's No. 2 duo of Conner Andersen and Tom Carney were able to knot doubles play at one match a piece after registering a 6-3 victory over Villhelm Fridell and Petr Vodak. The deciding match came down to the No. 3 spot where Buffalo would win 6-3 over twin brothers Marko and Nemanja Guzina to clinch the point.

In singles play, Buffalo took five of the six matches from the Cardinals. The match had already been won by the Bulls with the top two courts remaining. Stutz would suffer a hard fought battle at the No. 2 singles position over Vidit Vaghela before classmate Lucas Andersen finished the day with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 decision over the Bulls top player Hao Sheng Koay. With the win, Lucas Andersen improved to 5-1 on the top court in league action this season.
