MUNCIE, Ind. – Starting pitcher Michael Klein threw eight shutout innings to lead Ohio to a 10-0 victory over the Ball State baseball team Sunday afternoon at First Merchants Ballpark Complex.
Ohio (14-12, 3-0 MAC) picked up its first series sweep to begin Mid-American Conference play since 1997.
After three scoreless innings to begin the game, the Bobcats scored in five of the final six frames. Ty Black led Ohio by going 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Devon Garcia reached base five times and added two RBIs.
Klein held Ball State (11-17, 0-6) to four singles and four walks in his eight innings of work. The right-handed pitcher struck out nine batters.
Next up for Ball State is a road game at Indiana on Tuesday, April 4. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m.
