Women's Tennis Dominates Butler With 7-0 Sweep

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team improved its spring overall mark to 11-2 on the season after a 7-0 sweep over in-state opponent Butler Wednesday evening in Indianapolis.
The Cardinals began the match on a high note taking an early 1-0 advantage over the Bulldogs. Audrey Berger and teammate Julia Sbircea won fairly easily over the Bulldogs twosome of Jocelyn Koester and Jordan Minnick by a score of 6-1. The No. 1 doubles Cardinals tandem of Carmen Blanco and Peyton Gollhofer followed suit with their 6-2 take down of Bailey Padgett and Rachel Sutton.Â
In singles action, the Cardinals dominated on every court taking all the points from Butler. All six Cardinals won in straight sets. Rebecca Herrington was the lone Cardinal not to give a game up in her competition after defeating her opponent 6-0 in the first set and then finished the match 6-1 over Carla O'Byrne by a score of 6-1 for the victory on court five.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues spring action Sunday at home against Oakland for a 1 p.m. first serve at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. After that match, the Cardinals will begin Mid-American Conference action at Western Michigan on March 24 at 12 p.m.
