Ball State's 6th Woman Destined For Great Things in Muncie
Muncie, Ind. -- When Ohio University was in town just a few weeks ago, coach Bob Bolden answered a question by saying that Ball State's coach Brady Sallee was a lucky man.
"She's one of the best players in the league. Â If I had one of the best players in the league, I'd have to start her," Bolden said.
The Ohio coach was referencing Destiny Washington, the Cardinals sophomore and first woman off the bench every night. Â The lanky forward averages 10 points and six rebounds a game while leading her team in blocks. Â She also happens to rank fourth in the MAC in field goal percentage. Â And it's all done off the bench. Â In fact, while Washington is second on Ball State's roster in rebounds, she would actually pace three other team in the league -- all while coming off the bench.
Ball State All-Access sat down with Washington to talk about the breakout success in her first season with Ball State after sitting out 2015-16 due to her transfer from Loyola. Â We learn all about what she calls her "tree branches" and head coach Brady Sallee puts into perspective exactly how good Washington could be when her career is all said and done.
The Cardinals are on the road again Wednesday night before turning around to take on Toledo at home on Saturday at 2 p.m. for Senior Day.  Tickets are available at 888-BSU-Ticket or by browsing on BallStateSports.com.  To learn more about the Cards fans can follow the team on social media @BallStateWBB and @BallStateSports. Â
