Men's Tennis Edges Cleveland State, 4-3

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Ball State men's tennis team outlasted Cleveland State by a 4-3 score in a tight match Sunday morning at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 5-4 in spring action while the Vikings fall to 4-6 overall.
Ball State fell behind early to Cleveland State after losing the doubles point. Only one of the Cardinals doubles tandems earned a victory today and that was the twosome of Lucas Andersen and Tom Carney. Lucas Andersen and Carney took a 6-2 decision over the Vikings Nico Mostardi and Andre Mick on court two.
But the Cardinals came back in singles action, taking four of the six to earn the come from behind victory today. Marko Guzina clinched the match for Ball State on court two with a straight set win (6-4, 6-2) over the Vikings William Malm. At the No. 2 position, Andrew Stutz managed a confident singles victory against Cleveland State's Colton Buffington, 6-4, 6-2. Ball State's Nemanja Guzina and Patrick Downs also defeated their respective opponents in straight set decisions.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues spring dual action Wednesday, March 1 at Illinois in West Lafayette, Ind. The match against Illinois will mark the fourth Big Ten foe opponent the Cardinals have faced this season. Earlier this spring, Ball State competed against Purdue, Indiana and Michigan State.
