Women's Tennis Nets Win At Home Over Evansville

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team earned a 6-1 dual victory at home Saturday evening over Evansville in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. The win marks the sixth of the season for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals took the Aces down in order during the doubles competition. Julia Sbircea alongside teammate Audrey Berger were the first off the court after taking down Andjela Brguljan and Daria Pentsova by a score of 6-2 at the top position. The point was then clinched after Toni Ormond and Isabelle Dohanics registered a 6-2 victory at the No. 2 position over Evansville's Chieko Yamada and Theodora Soidatou. Carmen Blanco and Peyton Gollhofer also won their match over the Purple Aces on the last court.
In singles action, the Cardinals took five of the six matches from Evansville. Ormond registered a straight set win on court three to put the Cardinals up 2-0. Rebecca Herrington followed suit with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat over Andrea Pascual-Larri and then teammate Rosalinda Calderon claimed the match for Ball State after beating Theodora Soldatou, 6-3, 6-3, on court six. Dohanics and Gollhofer were also victorious on the day.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues spring action at home Sunday against IUPUI at 2 p.m. at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting.
