Men’s Swimming and Diving Topped by Miami

OXFORD, Ohio – The Ball State men's swimming and diving team fell short to Miami Saturday afternoon, 207.5 to 89.5.
Sophomore Cullen Tyler led the team with two first place finishes and a second place finish. Tyler tied for first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.39. His other first place finish was in the 200 breaststroke with a final time of 2:05.18. His time of 1:55.80 in the 200 IM earned him a second place finish.
Junior Isaac Walling was another top finisher on the day for the Cardinals. Walling had a second place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:57.39. He also had a third place finish in the 500 freestyle after touching the wall at 4:55.69.
Senior Tanner Barton earned four points and a second place finish in the 200 butterfly at 1:54.34. Barton also finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 51.42, right behind senior Bradley Ridge (51.19).
Other top finishes on the day include, junior Banistre Lienhart who had a third place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:45.42), earning the team three points. Senior Austin Green also earned two third place finishes, in the 50 freestyle (21.66) and in the 100 freestyle (47.66). Freshman Logan Ackley touched the wall at 1:57.33 in the 200 backstroke earning another third place finish for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals finished the day with a second place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. Zach Reichle, Tanner Barton, Ben Andrew and Austin Green teamed up in the relay for a 1:26.20 final time.
Ball State will return to the pool for the Mid-American Conference meet on Wednesday, March 1 through Saturday, March 4. The men's MAC Championships will be held in Carbondale, Ill.
