Men’s Volleyball Ranks 14 in AVCA Division I-II Preseason Poll

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's volleyball team was voted 14th in the nation among all Division I and Division II schools in the America Volleyball Coaches Association preseason rankings announced Thursday afternoon.
The Cardinals finished the 2017 season with a 19-10 record and a 9-7 mark in conference action. Ball State was ranked in the top 15 all of last season with their final ranking being 12.
Three other teams in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association were also voted into the top 15, making it once again one of the most competitive conferences in the country. Ohio State, the two-time defending national champion, is number one on the list while Lewis was voted into the sixth spot and Loyola-Chicago made the list at 13th.
There are five other teams in the top 15 that the Cardinals will be facing this season. In the second weekend of regular season action, Ball State will welcome No.3 BYU and No. 8 Stanford into Worthen Arena. The Cardinals will also face seventh ranked UC Irvine, ninth ranked Penn State, and tenth ranked Pepperdine throughout the season.
Ball State lost six seniors to graduation, but welcome eight exciting newcomers to the mix. The Cardinals are also returning three seniors, two juniors, and seven sophomores.
The Ball State men's volleyball team will kick off the 2018 season on Jan. 5 and Jan. 6 at home against Lees-McRae and Emmanuel.
