About the Cardinals
• Ball State rides a six-game winning streak into Friday's contest with Jackson State. The Cardinals are looking for their first seven-game winning streak since the 2010-11 season. BSU has won seven straight at home, dating back to last season.
• The Cardinals are coming off a 79-65 victory over North Florida behind 15 points, 13 rebounds and five assists from Trey Moses. The junior center became the first player to lead BSU in all three categories since Bo Calhoun did it Feb. 24, 2015 versus Western Michigan. Moses has 11 assists over the past two games.
• Dunks from Ball State's Jeremie Tyler and Tahjai Teague in the North Florida game were both featured on SportsCenter's Top 10. Tyler's one-handed, alley-oop slam from Jontrell Walker was Tuesday's No. 1 play. Tayler Persons' Dec. 5 game-winner at Notre Dame also made the Top 10.
• The Cardinals check in at No. 82 in the NCAA RPI. BSU is No. 119 in the Ken Pomeroy ratings as the highest-rated team from the MAC (Buffalo is next at No. 126).
• Ball State is 4-0 against Division I teams from the state of Indiana with wins over Notre Dame, Valparaiso, Indiana State and IUPUI. Purdue (3-0) is the only other in-state team undefeated against Indiana foes. It's the first time since 1999-2000 Ball State has been unbeaten versus the state. The Cardinals went 3-0 that year with wins over Purdue, Butler and Indiana State.
• Ball State has had success early this season despite not shooting to its potential from 3-point range. The Cardinals rank 11th in the MAC at 33.3 percent beyond the arc. Ball State shot 37.9 percent from deep last year and returns four of its top five shooters in terms of 3-point makes.
Scouting Jackson State
• Jackson State is coming off an 83-57 loss Thursday at Toledo.
• The Tigers also played another MAC opponent earlier this month, falling 70-63 at Central Michigan.
• Chace Franklin leads Jackson State with 13.8 points per game but has not played in the past three games. Maurice Rivers is averaging 12.9 points per game.
• The Tigers rank 11th nationally in offensive rebounds per game (14.3) and 29th in steals per game (8.6).
• Jackson State finished last season 14-18 overall and shared third place in the SWAC with a 10-8 conference mark.
• Wayne Brent is in his fifth season as Jackson State's head coach. He led the program to the CIT in 2016.
More on the North Florida Win
• Ball State was whistled for only seven fouls in Tuesday's win. That matches the fewest for the Cardinals in the past 20 years. BSU committed just seven fouls two other times during that period, most recently Jan. 2, 2013 against Norfolk State.
• Ball State also set season bests for assists (25), blocked shots (seven) and fewest turnovers (eight) in the win over North Florida.
