- The Cardinals remain one of eight teams in the nation that are still undefeatedalong with Louisville (ACC) 13-0, Mississippi State (SEC) 11-0, Tennessee (SEC) 11-0, Syracuse (ACC) 11-0, West Virginia (Big 12) 10-0, 10-0, Villanova (Big East) 9-0, and UConn (AAC) 8-0. (As of 12/19/17).
- The Cardinals' success this season has them in the receiving votes section of last week's Associated Press Top 25 poll. Ball State turned heads with its 66-60 victory over Big Ten foe Purdue on Dec. 4. It marked the first time since 1979 a Ball State women's basketball team had taken down the Boilermakers. The win also marked the Cardinals' second victory over a Power 5 conference program this season, as Ball State defeated Vanderbilt 88-79 on the road Nov. 20.
- Junior guard Carmen Grande ranks second nationally in assists (9.9 apg).
- Ball State has won the rebounding seven of its 10 games this season and has outscored its opponent in all 10 contests so far this year.
- A win would give the Cardinals an 11-0 record heading into to conference play. A feat that no other MAC school has accomplished in over a decade.
- Western Kentucky enters tonight's contest with an 8-3 ledger. The Lady Toppers are coming off of a 70-56 win over fellow Mid-American Conference member Toledo on Sunday. WKU is on a seven-game win streak that began on Nov. 24 against Mercer.
- Tonight's contest against the Lady Toppers marks the fifth-straight year the Cardinals have played WKU. The all-time series record is knotted 3-3 between the two programs. Ball State fell to Western Kentucky by a score of 68-61 at E.A. Diddle Arena last season on this exact same date. The last time the Cardinals played the Lady Toppers in Worthen Arena resulted in a 74-60 win for Ball State on Nov. 20, 2015.
