Women’s Swimming Completes Day One of Miami Invite

OXFORD, Ohio – The Ball State women's swimming team completed day one of the Miami Invitational Thursday evening in sixth place. Ball State finished the day with 98 points.
To start off the day, the Cardinals had eighth and 11th place finishes in the 200 freestyle relay. Peighton Gilbert, Amanda Kedzierski, Andrea Richter and Anne Vormohr posted a time of 1:36.34 to earn that eighth place spot. The 11th place finish was made by Sophie Bader, Lauren Elston, Mikayla Dostall and Audrey Schank after marking a time of 1:38.11.
Gilbert, Vormohr, and Liz Madison were the three Cardinals to individually put points on the board for the Cardinals. Gilbert finished 10th in the 50 freestyle after touching the wall at 23.95. Vormohr was not far behind with her 16th place finish in the 50 free ( 24.16), earning three points for the Cardinals. Madison earned five points with a 14th place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:06.40).
To finish up the day, Ball State took the 5th place spot in the 400 medley relay to earn 32 points. Schank, Kedzierski, Richter and Vormohr earned that place with a final time of 3:50.89, almost three seconds faster than the prelim time.
The Ball State women's swimming team will continue action at the Miami Invitational all day tomorrow, Dec. 1. The Ball State women's diving team will kickoff day one of the Eastern Michigan Invitational tomorrow in Ypsilanti, Mich. as well.
