A Look at the Cardinals
• Ball State welcomes Oakland City for the first of two home games this week. The Cardinals will host IUPUI on Saturday.
• BSU will play eight of its next nine games at home, with the only road contest during that stretch coming next week at in-state foe Notre Dame. Ball State will not leave Indiana again until its third MAC game Jan. 9 at Ohio.
• The Cardinals have played the 12th-most difficult schedule in the country, according to Ken Pomeroy. BSU checks in at No. 135 in the KenPom rankings as the highest rated team from the Mid-American Conference (Eastern Michigan is next at No. 142).
• Ball State posted a 93-85 road win Saturday at Indiana State behind a 61.7 percent shooting performance as a team. It was the first time the Cardinals shot at least 60 percent from the floor against a Division I opponent since January 2003 at Akron. BSU's 61.7 percent overall and 57.9 percent from 3-point range (11 for 19) are the best marks by a MAC team in a game this year.
• The Cardinals are averaging 80.0 points per game this year. Last season's 78.7 points-per-game average was the highest for the program in the past 40 years.
• Ball State ranks 18th nationally in team free throw percentage at 79.6 percent. The Cardinals have shot 75 percent or better every game and were 24 for 30 Saturday at Indiana State.
• Ball State is one victory away from 1,200 wins in program history. The Cardinals are playing their 97th season of basketball, dating back to 1920.
