Three Things to Know:
1. This is Ball State's first visit to Akron since 2013 and just the fourth trip to Akron since 2000. The Cardinals are 6-4 all-time at Akron and have won the last two meetings at Akron. The all-time series is knotted at 11-11-1.
2. Current Akron tight ends coach Trent Boykin was the running backs and special teams coach at Ball State in 2003-04 under Brady Hoke.
3. Turnovers have been a problem for Ball State this season. The Cardinals have been in the minus column in turnovers in four of their five games. Over the last three games, Ball State has committed eight turnovers. On the flip side, Ball State's defense did not force a turnover for the first time this year last week at Western Michigan.
By the Numbers:
9 – Only nine Cardinals have started all five games this year, six of whom are on the defensive side of the ball.
30 – Defensive lineman Kevin Willis is slated to make his 30th career start this weekend at Akron, tops among current players.
219 – Freshman WR Justin Hall has piled up 219 yards receiving over the last two games.
