Neal Hazen Selected for Induction into IATA Hall of Fame

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Neal Hazen, head athletic trainer at Ball State University, will be inducted into the Indiana Athletic Trainers Association (IATA) Hall of Fame on Sunday, November 5, 2017. He will be presented with his award during the IATA's Annual Fall Business Meeting and Clinical Symposia in Carmel, Indiana.

Hazen has been an athletic trainer for 29 years, the past 21 years as the head athletic trainer at Ball State. He was honored as the IATA College and University Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2010, presented an NATA Service Award in 2006, and inducted into the Cardinal Sports Medicine Society Ring of Honor that same year.

Hazen is a loving husband to his wife and father to eight children. He has served as Eucharistic minister at St. Mary's Catholic Church and as Grand Knight of the Muncie Knights of Columbus.

"In his time at Ball State, Neal has been an example of professionalism within the athletic department and beyond, and an advocate for the profession of athletic training both in the state of Indiana and nationally," said Troy Hershman, Ball State assistant athletic trainer. "He is widely respected within the athletic department and in the community for his ability to make personal connections with his patients and his calm but strong leadership style."
