Mike Neu Interview - Akron Week
October 03, 2017 | Football
Final thoughts from the loss at Western Michigan …
"I don't want to watch the tape [from the WMU game]. You know, there are not a lot of positives from the tape. So, we want to be positive and upbeat and we want to put it behind us. We don't want to watch it again and get beat again. We want to focus all of our attention on Akron; trying to get the mindset as good as it can possibly be around the building."
Thoughts from last year's game against Akron …
"They are a good football team. We found that out a year ago. The first half of the game last year, we controlled the clock. We controlled most of the game. We ran the ball very effectively. The second half, that script got flipped on us. The quarterback is the guy that makes that thing go. [Thomas] Woodson's a guy that can hurt you with his arm. He can make some big throws. He's very confident in his ability to fit the ball into some tight windows."
Looking ahead to the road trip to Akron …
"We have to be better on both sides of the ball. That's easy to sit here and say, but it all starts for us being able to stop the run … [Akron's running backs] can make you miss in the open field and get a big gain … We want to limit the big plays for those guys and make sure we are fundamentally sound."
On the injury front …
"We are hoping to get a guy like Vinnie Palazeti back, but everybody else is kind of a wait-and-see approach."
