Men’s Swimming and Diving Wins Big Over Eastern Illinois

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Ball State men's swimming and diving team defeated Eastern Illinois with final score of 187-93.
The Cardinals started off the day with a second and third place finish in the 200 medley relay. Freshman Chase Jackson, sophomore Cullen Tyler, senior Bradley Ridge and senior Austin Green had a final time of 1:36.83. Freshman Logan Ackley, Sophomore Luke Nondorf, Sophomore Alec Tuthill and freshman Ben Andrew came together for a time of 1:38.68.
Ball State took 1-2-3 in the 1000 freestyle. Junior Isaac Walling touched the wall at 10:01.14 for a first place finish. Freshman Jack Luddy placed second (10:15.58) while senior JD Middleton took third (10:16.23).
The Cardinals also had top finishers in the 200 freestyle. Junior Banistre Leinhart's time of 1:46.67 earned him a first place finish. Senior Jacob Eckert was right behind him with a second place finish at 1:47.03.
In the 100 backstroke, Logan Ackley placed second (54.39) and Chase Jackson placed third (54.50).
Cullen Tyler had a time of 1:00.21 in the 100 breaststroke. Luke Nondorf placed third in the event with a time of 1:00.80. Senior Mitch Prather competed in the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 1:03.04.
Senior Tanner Barton, Bradley Ridge and Alec Tuthill dominated the 200 butterfly, finishing 1-2-3. Barton touched the wall first with a time of 1:55.75. Ridge was second at 1:56.76 while Tuthill touched the wall at 1:58.61.
In the 50 freestyle, Austin Green, Ben Andrew, and Zach Reichle finished in the top five. Green placed first (21.72), Andrew finished in second (21.85) and Reichle took fourth (22.24). Green, Andrew and Reichle also had top finishes in the 100 freestyle. The first place finish went to Green at 47.51 while Andrew placed third at 48.19 and Reichle was fourth with a time of 50.23.
Other top times were Logan Ackley in the 200 backstroke (1:56.89), Cullen Tyler in the 200 breaststroke (2:12.53), Jacob Eckert in the 500 freestyle (4:54.23) and in the 200 IM (1:59.47), Isaac Walling in the 500 freestyle (4:54.79), Bradley Ridge in the 100 butterfly (51.81) and Tanner Barton in the 100 butterfly (52.50).
The Ball State men's swimming and diving team will compete again Sunday, Jan. 22 in Fishers, Ind. against the Butler Bulldogs. Meet time is set for noon.
