Cardinals Open the Mid-American Conference Against Northern Illinois Sunday
January 13, 2017 | Gymnastics
Last Friday the Cardinals suffered a third place loss of 196.225-194.200-193.625 against No. 6 Missouri and No. 24 Illinois-Champaign in the Hearnes Center.
"I am looking forward to our first home meet of the 2017 season," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "We kicked off the year on the road last week, and we are looking to improve upon that performance this Sunday. Getting back into Worthen Arena to compete will be helpful. It is such a great venue, and if we can get our fans to come out and be loud, it will make it that much better for this team."
The Cardinals will look to build upon several strong routines from last week's meet including vault performances from freshman Bri Slonim and senior Sarah Ebeyer who tied for second with scores of 9.775.
On bars Jordyn Penny swung into second place with an outstanding bar set of 9.875.
Kayla Beckler stood with multiple athletes who scored a 9.825 on beam.
Ball State also received a strong performance on floor from Kaitlyn Menzione who scored a 9.775.
"Our goal is to get a little better each week," Saleem stated. "This was a long pre-season and this team is ready to get out in front of our fans to show everyone their hard work."
