Anderson Shares MAC Golfer of the Week Honor
September 08, 2016 | Women's Golf
MUNCIE, Ind. -- On the heels of the best tournament of her young career, Ball State's Sydney Anderson was tabbed Thursday as the Mid-American Conference Co-Golfer of the Week.
Anderson set career bests for 54-hole score (218) and 18-hole score (69) at Illinois State's Redbird Invitational. The sophomore from Columbus, Indiana, posted her best collegiate result with a tie for fourth place in the event at Weibring Golf Club.
Anderson's 3-under par 69 in the final round, which included three birdies and zero bogeys, matched the second-best score in program history and tied the lowest by a Cardinal since October 2013.
She was steady for the week, tying for second in the field in pars (38). Her score of 3 under par for the final 36 holes matched the best of any player in the field over that stretch.
Anderson shared MAC Golfer of the Week honors with a trio of players who also tied for fourth at the Redbird Invite -- Brielle Ward and Kelly Anderson of Northern Illinois and Hailey Hrynewich of Ohio.
Ball State will return to action Sept. 19-20 with its home tournament, The Cardinal Classic, at The Players Club in Yorktown.
