Riley Neal Named MAC Male Scholar Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced today that Ball State football player Riley Neal was selected as the league's Male Scholar Athlete of the Week for Sept. 19-26.
Neal, a sophomore quarterback from Yorktown, Indiana, scored the game-winning touchdown with 1:47 remaining to lift Ball State to a 31-27 victory at Florida Atlantic on Sept. 24. Neal, who threw an interception on Ball State's first possession of the contest, bounced back to account for all four Cardinals touchdowns. He finished 23-of-37 passing for 252 yards and two scores through the air. On the ground, Neal tallied team-highs in carries (14) and rushing yards (74) to go along with two more touchdowns.
In the classroom, Neal carries a 3.518 GPA and is majoring in pre-business.
Next up for Ball State is the MAC opener against Northern Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Scheumann Stadium. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
