
Men's Volleyball Alumnus Paul Baxter Coaching at Olympics

MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State men's volleyball alumnus Paul Baxter will be a coach for the USA Olympic Beach Volleyball Team at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Baxter, who earned three letters for the Cardinals from 1992-94 and helped guide the program to the 1994 NCAA Tournament, will be making his Olympic coaching debut as the head coach of two beach volleyball pairs.
Baxter will be the head coach of men's beach volleyball duo Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena, as well as women's beach volleyball pair Lauren Fendrick and Brooke Sweat. He will be assisted by Andrew Fuller for the women's duo.
Baxter began coaching Dalhausser and Lucena in 2015 and helped the pair enter the Olympics as the top American men's team and the third seed overall. The pair will play its first match in Pool C at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7.
Baxter started working with first-time Olympians Fendrick and Sweat as an assistant coach under Fuller in 2015, with the pair switching coaching roles in 2016. The women's duo will play its first match in Pool A at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7.
