Jordan Williams Inks Free Agent Deal with New Orleans Saints

MUNCIE, Ind. – Former Ball State football player Jordan Williams signed an undrafted rookie free agent deal with the NFL's New Orleans Saints this weekend. Williams will join another former Ball State player, Willie Snead, at the wide receiver position for the Saints.
Williams concluded his Ball State career ranked fourth in program history in receptions (200) and receiving yards (2,723). The native of Indianapolis, Indiana, is tied for third in the school annals with 24 touchdown catches.
As a senior, Williams led the team and ranked sixth in the MAC in receptions (72) and seventh in receiving yards (920). He reached 100 yards receiving in three straight games during the middle of the season, highlighted by his performance at No. 17 Northwestern on Sept. 26 – eight catches for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Snead had a breakout year for the Saints at wide receiver in 2015. He finished second on the team in receiving yards (984) and third in receptions (69), working with NFL Pro Bowl quarterback Drew Brees. Snead played at Ball State from 2011-13 and ranks second on the school's career receiving yards list (2,991).
Ball State's first-year head coach Mike Neu was the quarterbacks coach for New Orleans the previous two seasons.
The Cardinals are poised to return six starters on offense and nine on defense this fall. Ball State kicks off its 2016 season on Friday, Sept. 2 at Georgia State. The home opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 17 against Eastern Kentucky.
