All-Access: Dabkowski Goes From Walk-on to Leader
May 12, 2016 | Softball
Ball State softball's best player was unrecruited. She was a walk-on that then worked her way up the ranks to be one of the best in school history. Her name is Emily Dabkowski.
Dabkowski, who wrapped up her career last week, finished ranked in the Top 10 in eight different offensive categories. She finished her career hitting the third most homeruns of any player to don Cardinal and White. In 2015 she was named to the All-MAC First Team.
So how is it that a player so accomplished went almost entirely unrecruited out of high school in Plainfield, Ind? And how is it that once Dabkowski walked-on at Ball State some of her teammates didn't even know? The answer is simple. Dabkowski worked harder and longer than anybody else. She grinded her way out to the top of the mountain, leading the Cards along the way.
Ball State All-Access explores Dabkowski's story in more depth.
