Women's Tennis Breaks All-Time Season Win Record

AKRON, Ohio - The Ball State women's tennis team remainded undefeated in Mid-American Conference action after pulling off a 4-3 road win at Akron Friday afternoon at the LaTuchie Tennis Center. With the win, the Cardinals break the program record for most wins in a season and improved to 18-2 overall and 5-0 in MAC play. Ball State also extended its win streak to 15.
The Cardinals bounced back after suffering two losses in doubles play. Akron took victories from Ball State on courts one and two. Carmen Blanco alongside Bethany Moore were the only doubles tandem to earn a win for the Cardinals after their 6-4 defeat over Martina Zerbola and Luisa Echeverry at the No. 3 position.
In singles action, Julia Sbircea and Audrey Berger rallied back early after taking the No. 5 and No. 3 slots, respectively, from the Zips to go up 2-1. Akron then tied the score 2-2 with its straight set win at the No. 1 position. Isabelle Dohanics put the Cardinals ahead 3-2 with a 6-4, 7-5 defeat over Carli Knezevich on court six. After that, Peyton Gollhofer won 7-6 (6), 7-5 at the No. 2 singles slot to seal the win for the Cardinals.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference action at Buffalo Sunday at 1 p.m.
