ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Junior Brendan Surane of the No. 8 Ball State (20-6, 12-2 MIVA) men's volleyball team was named Offensive Player of the Week by the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Tuesday afternoon.
Surane, a junior outside attacker, helped Ball State to a pair of 3-0 conference sweeps of Quincy and Lindenwood last week. He racked up 4.17 kills per set while hitting at a .435 clip. In a road win over Quincy, Surane led the Cardinals by racking up 14 kills over the course of the three sets, including five in the first game, in addition to hitting a .462 percentage. Then in the 3-0 win of Lindenwood, Surane led the Cardinals with 11 kills for the second consecutive match. In addition, Surane added nine blocks and three aces on the week to average 5.4 points per set.
This is Surane's second MIVA Offensive Player of the Week honors this season, as he was awarded the title on March 22 after tallying 35 kills against IPFW and then-No. 13 UC Irvine.
Looking ahead, the Cardinals will round out the regular season by facing a pair of major MIVA foes in No. 13 Lewis on Friday evening, followed by No. 12 Loyola on Saturday. Both matches will be played on the road and are set for a 7 p.m. first serve.
