
Women's Tennis Earns 6-1 Win Against South Dakota

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Ball State women's tennis extended its win streak to seven with the Cardinals 6-1 win over South Dakota Tuesday afternoon in Orlando, Fla.
In doubles, Ball State's Julia Sbircea and Toni Ormond took down South Dakota's Emma Kranendonk and Ellie Burns, 6-4 on the top court. The Cardinals then clinched the point after Carmen Blanco along with doubles partner Bethany Moore earned a 7-5 victory over Elise van Zijst and Milica Pavlovic.
The Cardinals took their doubles competition momentum into singles action, taking five of the six matches from South Dakota. Ormond was the first match off the court after earning a three set victory against Zijst at the No. 4 spot. Audrey Berger gave Ball State the 3-0 edge with her 2-6, 6-1, 10-5 win over the Coyotes Yuliya Sidenko. For the second straight match, Sbircea would claim the victory for the Cardinals after her 3-6, 6-0, 10-8 defeat over Anastasia Bondarenko on court five.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues its spring season when it plays Norfolk State Thursday at 3 p.m. in Orlando, Fla.
